A meeting of architects practising at Greater Noida under the aegis of Architects Association of Greater Noida (AAGN) was held on 26 Aug 2023 at Stellar Gymkhana, Greater Noida. The meeting was attended by several of the leading practising architects of Greater Noida. Issues concerning architects’ practice and GNIDA in Greater Noida were discussed. The meeting was chaired by Col Anuj Srivastava President of the Association accompanied with his team of Vice President Vivek Bhati, Secretary Christopher Paul and Treasurer Anu Shishodia. Prominent architects of Greater Noida, namely Anurag Sharma and Gaurav Saini addressed the meeting.

Architects at the meeting stated that the process of building plan approval needs to be streamlined. There was a need for transparency in dissemination of the building bye laws and connected orders. A time limit for processing needs to be laid down and followed. There are several regulatory issues of planning parameters which need to be in consonance with practices in other regulatory bodies and in consonance with the model building bye laws. The region of Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway are seeing massive construction. Architects are important partners and stakeholders in this development. They need to be treated with dignity and respect and involved in all the planning decisions taken by the authorities. This is in the interest of the authorities and the urban environment at large. The architects present at the meeting decided to meet again with a compilation of the list of the issues and a memorandum to be addressed to the GNIDA.
